MWSA’s Finance Committee shall consist of the Treasurer and two to three other members in good standing. These individuals should normally be members who have roles in the organization that require them to have access to aspects of the budget.
The Treasurer will be someone with basic bookkeeping skills who can create a simple budget, keep a general ledger, make bank deposits and write checks. The Treasurer will draft and present the annual budget to the board, prepare and present a Financial Report at board meetings, check accounting work for errors and fraud, sign or approve checks and other payments, and sign the annual tax return for the organization. A Financial Report at a board meeting will consist of a beginning and ending balance for the period covering the time between two board meetings and provide detailed income and expense information. The Treasurer will be a voting board member required to attend board meetings and vote on motions. He/she will lead MWSA’s Finance Committee.
The Finance Committee working as a team will be responsible for maintaining sufficient records to ensure oversight of financial transactions and appropriate historical review. Transparency should be the key among committee members to allow double/triple checking and enhance MWSA’s overall financial integrity.
MWSA’s Program Committee shall consist of a Chair and three or more other members in good standing. One of these other members will be the Chair of the Education Committee.
The Program Committee shall be responsible for the oversight and management of MWSA’s conferences, off sites, community efforts, and other activities sponsored by MWSA that require such management and oversight. The committee will recommend locations for events and will approve agenda topics. It will evaluate members’ suggestions for off sites, writer’s retreats, and other activities that would be considered a MWSA sponsored activity, and make recommendation to the President and the Board whether to approve MWSA’s participation in the activity or not. If approved, the Program Committee will be responsible for oversight as mentioned above.
The Program Committee will be responsible to ensure all MWSA activities are made available to all interested MWSA members and that with the exception of community efforts, all MWSA conferences, programs, off sites, writer’s retreats, and similar activities are paid for by the participants or through donations.
The Membership Committee shall consist of at least three or more members and be chaired by the organization's Secretary. The committee shall oversee member communications, record retention, and recruitment. The committee will insure dues billing and payments received are handled promptly. Member stats will be made available for all quarterly board meetings.

MWSA’s Social Media Committee shall consist of a Chair and at least other members in good standing.
The Social Media Committee shall be responsible for guiding the overall social media efforts to enhance MWSA’s presence and image on the internet along with providing an overall framework to facilitate individual member’s ability to network, support each other, and to market themselves to the public. The committee will evaluate the value of creating an MWSA page or account on current and future, major social media venues, e.g. Twitter, Instagram, etc., and recommend to the President which ones are best suited to be of value to MWSA, and where approved, manage those accounts in a manner that promotes MWSA and its members.
The Chair of the Communications Committee has overall responsibility to enhance MWSA’s presence on the web, the Social Media Committee will coordinate new initiatives with this Chair to de-conflict or take advantage of other activities ongoing via the MWSA website or elsewhere.Broad oversight of the Social Media Committee via the Chair of the Communications Committee will fall to the President and the Board. After concept approvals have been provided, the Social Media Committee will be responsible for developing and implementing its activities.
